YOU CANNOT GIVE AWAY — PREPARATION

...Preparation! The crucial key to life...

..Farmer H.M. Goodwyn, "Preparation is the hardest part in a job." These two statements say so much! This is why "How-to Books" ultimately fail. Preparation! Sounds like sacrifice, pain, hard work, sweat, perseverance, discipline, a price! Most are unwilling to do it. This is why "self-esteem" fails. Those unwilling to prepare cannot have real self-esteem.

Take the Super-bowl (1998). Denver won. They were not the best team. Green Bay lost...simply. They were not in shape! They "tanked" the final quarter. This has been the Cowboys’ plight. They are great players out of shape mentally and physically. Unprepared! Our brotherhood wants to grow but will not prepare!

Thanks to Dave Rechtin, we have another observation... "Preparation cannot be given away." I can give you of my time, talent, dollars. I can share advice, help you bear burdens, but I cannot give you preparation. You cannot give me yours. Jesus taught this vital truth in "The Parable of the Ten Virgins."

All of us are accountable to God. All of us must prepare to meet God. Our preparation is our own. Parents cannot prepare for their children. Preachers cannot prepare for congregations. Congregations cannot prepare for weak, worldly members.

You can give most things away. Power to you. You cannot give away preparation.
